Mr. Nguyen The Cuong has finished his graduate degree in Forestry Science at Vietnam University of Forestry and has more than 19 years of experience in biological diversity, community-based conservation & development. Mr. Cuong has worked with different international and national conservation and development organizations including Fauna and Flora International; Vietnam Red Cross and German Zoological Society for the Conservation of Species and Populations (ZSCSP). Mr. Cuong has rich knowledge and experience in community-based conservation and sustainable livelihood for rural and mountainous regions. Cuong now works as CCD’s Community-based conservation coordinator.

Dr. Le Thien Duc
Dr. Le Thien Duc has approximately 20 years of experience working on forest management, forest certification and timber legality for responsible timber trade, and REDD-plus interventions in Viet Nam. Formally, he was the Forest Programme Coordinator for WWF Viet Nam where he acted as the link between Country Practice Leader and the core team to ensure strategic embedding of Practice Goals strategic plan. He used to work as a part-time Forest Expert for Sustainable Forest Management Institute (SFMI). Duc received his doctorate degree from Technische Universität Dresden focusing on Sustainable Natural Forest Management in the Central Highlands of Viet Nam (2015). Dr. Duc is Executive Director of CCD.

MSc. Vu Thuc Hien
Ms. Vu Thuc Hien graduated the Master Program of Environment Science at Natural Science University of Vietnam National University. She has seven-year experience in mangrove ecology, biodiversity and environmental sciences in coastal areas, issues of natural resource use and conservation of the coastal ecosystems and climate change adaptation, and ten-year experience in biosphere reserves management and support. Recently, she held the secretary position of Vietnam Man and Biosphere Program National Committee, and she is a Deputy Director of CCD.

MSc. Bui Xuan Truong
Mr. Bui Xuan Truong graduated the Master Program of Environmental Management at Flinders University in Australia. He has 15 years of working experience in protected area management, community development, ecotourism and environmental education. Currently, he is General Secretary of Vietnam National Park and Protected Area Association (VNPPA), which is a national civil organization of protected areas in Vietnam. He is a Deputy Director of CCD.

MSc. Pham Van Thong
Mr. Pham Van Thong got a Master’s degree in Tropical Forestry from International Master Joined Program among Vietnam University of Forestry, University of Gottingen and Technische Universität Dresden, Germany (2018). Besides, Thong has almost 10 years’ experience as a chelonian specialist and wildlife trade expert. Thong has worked as project coordinator for Asian Turtle Program for almost eight years and field research coordinator for almost two years with Turtle Sanctuary. Thong has published seven national and international papers regarding his chelonian research and wildlife trade. Thong also has experience in training for students and authority officers such as forest rangers, custom officials and law enforcement force regarding wildlife trade, wildlife regulations and forest policies at national and international levels. Thong has joined CCD in December 2017 as wildlife research and conservation coordinator.

MSc. Nguyen Thi Mai Phuong graduated from Vietnam University of Economics before having her Master’s degree in finance and accounting management. Ms. Phuong has good experience in financing and accounting. She is also interested in doing research on local livelihood and micro-credit schemes for local community as an alternative option for natural resource exploitation. Phuong is CCD Financial and Human Resources Manager.

Ms. Diep was a staff at Center for Environmental Research and Education (CERE), Hanoi University of Education since she graduated from the university (2002). Ms. Diep started working in CCD from 2017 as an Admin Manager. Ms. Diep is also supporting CCD’s development programs, especially in sustainable livelihood and ecotourism.

MSc. Bui Thanh Tung
Mr. Bui Thanh Tung, a field biologist, has five years of research experience in wildlife research and forest inventory. Currently, Tung is pursuing a Master degree in Tropical Forestry, which is anticipated to be completed at the end of 2019, under the joint program among Vietnam University of Forestry, University of Gottingen and Technische Universität Dresden, Germany. Previously, Tung was a researcher at the Institute for Forest Ecology and Environment – Vietnam University of Forestry from 2013-2018. Tung is not only having research skills but also having knowledge of climate change mitigation and adaptation, forest certification (FSC), value chain, sustainable forest management, forest policy and economics. Currently, Tung has three peer review papers for national and international journals. Tung has been a conservation research officer at CCD since March 2018.

MSc. La Quang Trung
Mr. La Quang Trung is a well-known Vietnamese field biologist, who has participated in major primate conservation efforts in Vietnam for nearly 20 years. Mr. Trung is among the team members, who rediscovered the Cao Vit gibbon (Nomascus nasutus) – also known as Eastern black-crested gibbon – in Vietnam in 2002, which was thought to be extinct for more than 40 years at that time. Mr. Trung held BSc. degree in Forest Resources Management and obtained an MA degree in Sustainable International Development at Brandeis University, USA. Mr. Trung has more than 18 years’ experience of working in biodiversity conservation and protected area management with a focus on threatened primates, empowerment and engagement of community in forest/habitat protection and monitoring, community/rural development, and capacity building for protected area personnel. In addition to the works on species protection, Mr. Trung also has rich experience in facilitating REDD+ and natural disaster risk management, developing and implementing annual and quarterly work plans for large projects and programs, and conducting project M&E. Mr. Trung is the nature conservation coordinator at Center for Nature Conservation and Development.

Mr. Bui Tien Dung has more than 15 years of experience on various development issues especially those related to community empowerment and sustainable livelihood development. In the last 15 years, Mr. Dung has intensively worked with local community in Northern, Central and Central Highland Vietnam to assist local community with various community-based livelihood and sustainable community tourism models that linked with natural resources and forest protection. Mr. Dung also actively involved in policy development and dissemination especially with those related to community forestry, community livelihood for ethnic groups and people in mountainous areas. Mr. Dung now is the Community Development & Tourism program manager at Center for Nature Conservation and Development.

Mr. Le Thanh An got his Bachelor’s degree in the major of Natural Resource Management (in collaborating with Colorado State University) from Vietnam National University of Forestry in 2018. Mr. An has more than 3 years of experience in wildlife conservation and animal caring. In the last 3 years, Mr. An has intensively worked on wildlife rescuing, reintroduction, and post-rehabilitation monitoring for primates. Mr. An also has good experience in community-based wildlife conservation especially via empower and enhancing capacity for local community and raising awareness on wildlife and biodiversity conservation. Mr. An now is the field biologist at Center for Nature Conservation and Development.

MSc. Ta Quoc Truong got a Bachelor’s degree in Silviculture from Vietnam National University of Forestry in 2012 and a Master’s degree in Tropical Forestry from Technical University of Dresden (Germany) in 2019. MSc. Truong has 7 years working in forest inventory projects, supporting ethnic communities in community livelihood development, sustainable forest management and REDD+ projects in Northern and North-Central Vietnam. MSc. Truong is now working as a collaborator for forest management program at the Center for Nature Conservation and Development (CCD).

Dr. Nguyen Manh Ha
Dr. Nguyen Manh Ha has rich experience in Protected Area/Biosphere Area planning and management in Vietnam and Southeast Asia. He also has extensive experience in ecosystem services valuation and biodiversity conservation, and habitat and species conservation and management. Dr. Ha held a doctoral degree in biology and ecology. In the last 20 years, Dr. Ha involved in the planning and managing Vietnam protected area systems (consisting of terrestrial, wetland and marine protected areas) and developing key laws and policies on biodiversity of the country such as Forestry Law, Fishery Law and Biodiversity Law. In the last three years, Dr. Ha involved in supporting the management and development of Vietnam Biosphere Reserves. He is also a member of scientists, who support Vietnam National Assembly and Government ministries on biodiversity matters. He has been leading the implementation of more than 20 research and conservation projects that focus on endangered terrestrial and marine such the large cat (Felidae spp.), primate (Primates spp.), and endangered ungulates in Indochina. Besides, he also actively participate in the graduate program of the National University as a biodiversity lecturer and supervisor for graduate students. Currently, Dr. Ha is a Conservation strategy & Policy Advisor fat the Center for Nature Conservation and Development (CCD).

Tran Le Tra received his Master Degree in Human Ecology in Belgium in 2005 and Postgraduate Diploma in Development Administration in the UK in 1998. He develops his career as a researcher and coordinator of academic and development programs, in which decentralization, empowerment and community participation are the core principles. Tra is very familiar with the interdisciplinary approach and is an expert in the fields of Human Ecology, Environmental Protection, Development Administration, and Participatory Monitoring & Evaluation. Tra is a rare case of a male consultant, who has good experience in promoting gender equality and gender mainstreaming. He was Gender Advisor of the CIDA-funded Vietnam Provincial Environmental Governance (VPEG) and DANIDA-funded Agriculture & Rural Development Budget Support Program (ARD SPS). Currently, Mr. Tra is a Sustainable Development & Environment Policy Advisor for Center for Nature Conservation and Development (CCD).

He has considerably extensive experience working for projects of various International Non-Governmental Organizations in the field of forestry and natural conservation (such as Fauna and Flora International, World Wildlife Fund for Nature, GTZ, FRR limited, AHT Consulting); rural development (Caritas Switzerland) and Climate change & disaster risk management (Oxfam Great Britain, CECI, Plan International and Centre for Natural Resource and Environmental Studies (Hanoi University). He is working as Biodiversity Technical Advisor for Fauna & Flora International – Vietnam Programme. Mr. Hoang is a Conservation Advisor for Center for Nature Conservation and Development (CCD).

Assoc.Prof.Tran Duc Thanh
Assoc.Prof. Tran Duc Thanh is one of the leading experts on Tourism in Vietnam. He was also one of the founders of Tourism study at Hanoi University in 1992 and the establishment of Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities in 1995. Assoc. Prof. Thanh also spent 04 years from 1987 to 1991 in Algeria as an educational specialist. With over 40 years of experience in teaching, researching on Geography and Tourism, he had many significant contributions to the development of the faculty and tourism training in many training institutions in Vietnam. He has deep expertise in Tourism Geography, Ecotourism, Community-Based Tourism, Human Resource Development in Tourism. He is the author and editor of some important books on tourism such as Introduction to tourism science, Tourism Geography, The development of community-based ecotourism and social security. Assoc. Prof Thanh is now an adviser for Center for Nature Conservation and Development on spatial planning, Ecotourism, and Community-Based Tourism.

Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Hong Long graduated from Vietnam National University in Hanoi before receiving his Master’s degree in Malaysia and Ph.D. degree from Rikkyo University in Japan. He is currently working at Faculty of Tourism Studies, University of Social Sciences and Humanities, Vietnam National University in Hanoi and a Research associate at Hanoi National University of Education. His major teaching and research areas are ecotourism, community-based tourism, sustainable tourism development, responsible tourism, environment and tourism resources, tourism laws and policies, state management for tourism, and tourism in Southeast Asia Countries. He has published 30 articles in well-recognized national and international journals. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Long is an editorial board member of International Journal of Tourism Sciences and a member of the Steering Committee of Critical Tourism Studies – Asia Pacific. Assoc.Prof.Dr. Pham Hong Long is also a leading consultant in sustainable tourism, community-based tourism and ecotourism in protected areas in Vietnam for international organizations such as British Council Vietnam, KTO, GIZ, USAID, ILO and JICA. Prof. Tri was a senior lecturer at for the Vietnam National University of Education (HNUE) from 1977 to 2018 and was the founding director for Environmental Research and Education (CERE). Currently, Dr. Tri is Chair of Vietnam National Committee for Man and Biosphere Program (MAB). Dr. Tri has rich experience in teaching and researching on Ecology and Environment including human ecology and system thinking. He has led the establishment and supported the management of Vietnam National Biosphere Network with nine Reserves. Dr. Tri has published over 50 scientific papers and books. Professor Tri is a Sustainable & Policy Advisor for Center for Nature Conservation and Development (CCD).
