ELEPHANTS IN VIETNAM URGENTLY NEED CONSERVATION PLANS AND ACTIONS
In Vietnam, ivory poaching, war, habitat loss, human-elphant conflict are the main causes for the decrease of wild elephants to only 5 recorded populations left at present. In addition, captive elephants are limited in number and distribution. With challenges restrain the thriving future of elephants in Vietnam, the conversation between Dr. Nguyen Manh Ha – Director of Center for Nature Conservation and Development and Nhan Dan Newspaper addressed factors associated with the status and possible solutions for human and elephant to co-exist and harmonize.
