“Ethnic diversity in Vietnam: Homestay in Mong ethnic minority community”

Son La province has abundant natural resources for tourism development. With terrain dissected into numerous separated rocky mountains, the province has diverse yet magnificent topographies such as caves, hot springs, vast valleys where ethnic minority communities inhabit, .etc.

The indigenous people in Hua Tat village – Van Ho district are aware of local tourism potentials. In recent years, the village has been among the best community-based tourism destinations in Son La province.

Hua Tat village is situated near national highway 6 and 15 kilometers away from Moc Chau plateau. In regard to the convenience of freight and passenger traffic, the village conserves original customs and craftsmanship which cumulatively contribute to the benefit of the local tourism development.

VTV2 television channel aired a documentary about the community – based tourism paradigm: A Chu homestay – a HMong ethnic minority household. A Chu homestay is not only the first homestay in Hua Tat village but also contributes to the success of sustainable tourism in the neighborhood.
