Abstract:
Ha Long is the capital and 1st class provincial city, among cities of Quang Ninh. Ha Long city is well-known for Ha Long bay – the world heritage which was accredited by UNESCO. Ha Long city has a strategic location related to the national economy, commerce and defense. In addition, Ha Long city has advantages in connecting financial centers and deep water ports. In 2020, Quang Ninh People’s Committee formulated a plan for sustainable tourism development for the province, focusing on utilizing natural and cultural potentials.
This year of 2021, the sustainable tourism development plan of Ha Long city has cooperated with Center for Nature Conservation and Development (CCD) to achieve provincial objectives: making Ha Long city a national tourism center and leading smart city of Vietnam with high-rated capacity for not only Quang Ninh but the northeastern region socio-economic development. During this process, CCD focuses on community-based tourism and eco-tourism activities to provide the disadvantaged with opportunities to learn, work and increase their income. Such activities also help to raise public awareness and responsibility towards nature, environment and culture.
