- Implementation time: 2020
- Partners: Cuc Phuong National Park Management Unit
Abstract:
Established on 7/7/1962, Cuc Phuong National Park (in Ninh Binh province) is the first national park in Vietnam, directly under the General Department of Forestry, the Ministry of Agriculture and Rural Development. Cuc Phuong National Park has the characteristics of an evergreen tropical rainforest on limestone karst. This is a special forest ecosystem, with a rich and unique flora and fauna. It also has many beautiful caves and still preserves the remains of prehistoric people. In addition, this place is also home to the Muong community, which still has traditional cultural features. Recently, the number of tourists coming to Cuc Phuong National Park is increasing and the demand for sightseeing, entertainment, relaxation and environmental education is increasing.
In order to meet the needs of tourists, harmonize the interests of stakeholders, and balance the tasks of ecotourism development, environmental education and nature conservation, the Center for Nature Conservation and Development Development (CCD) and Cuc Phuong National Park Management Board have developed a feasibility study for sustainable tourism development up to 2030 and a preliminary framework for equitable tourism. During this process, CCD focuses on orienting community-based tourism and ecotourism activities to provide the disadvantaged with opportunities to learn, work and increase their income. Such activities also help to raise public awareness and responsibility towards nature, environment and culture.
