  • Implementation time: 2021
  • Partners: Kon Tum Provincial People’s Committee, Chu Mom Ray National Park Management Board

Abstract:

Chu Mom Ray National Park lies in the two districts of Sa Thay and Ngoc Hoi in Kon Tum Province, central highlands of Vietnam. It is the only national park in Vietnam that shares the border with the two countries of Laos and Cambodia. Chu Mom Ray National Park has extremely diverse biology with many rare plants, animals, and many majestic waterfalls. Thus, biologists consider it a “paradise” for flora and fauna species. This national park has also been a historical place with 1045 and 1049 high points, memorial sites, and indigenous cultural values such as the H’Lang, Gia Rai, Ko Dong, Ro Mam, Brau ethnic groups.

Based on those great potentials, the Center for Nature Conservation and Development (CCD) has coordinated with the Management Board of Chu Mom Ray National Park to develop a tourism development plan. The plan is to help Chu Mom Ray National Park realize its potential in eco-tourism, community-based tourism, cultural and historical tourism to establish a suitable promoting strategy based on the current conditions.

In the process of plan-making, CCD always orients the community as the main factor in tourism activities. They will have more opportunities to develop, get jobs, and increase their income from tourism. Such activities will become effective tools in raising public awareness about nature and biodiversity conservation.
